The County Commissioner

The County Commissioner is the political head and executive official in the County as well as the Head of the County Security Sector. He provides a policy direction for the County affairs.

Honorable Kanyikwa joined and actively participated in the SPLA/M liberation struggle against the Khartoum regime that ended with the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in 2005 in the Kenyan town of Naivasha. He also served in the civil service and technical offices at various levels of Local Government and Independent Institutions before ascending to the position of County Commissioner through Presidential Decree in 2021. He is a Christian of humble background, down-to-earth and socially approachable personality.

The Press Conference Marking One Year of Hon Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa as the 91h Commissioner of Yei River County Since independence of the Republic of South Sudan and I" Commissioner after the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) appointed on 20th February 2021.

This is in response to what we have gone through and endured with deep pain and groaning which reminds us of the moments of miserable lives, characterized by destruction of lives and properties. torture. sexual harassment. abductions. forceful expulsion to live in exile or internally displaced. obstruction [rom access to education and healthcare services.
